
Making pasta from scratch sounds like the sort of thing you should know how to do by now. Then you find yourself in the supermarket buying another packet of dried spaghetti.
Thankfully, ALFI in Spitalfields is here to intervene.
The independent Italian restaurant has extended its pasta-making workshops after recent sessions went down rather well, with dates running through October, including National Pasta Day on Saturday 17 October, and new dates through November and December. The idea is simple: roll up your sleeves, get your hands in the dough and learn how to make different pasta shapes, with each workshop taking its cue from a different Italian region.

There’s expert guidance, naturally, because nobody needs to discover halfway through making ravioli that they’ve accidentally invented a new pasta shape. And there’s a glass of Prosecco to keep things moving.
It’s the sort of afternoon that starts with I’m just going to learn how to make pasta and ends with you wondering if you should quit your job and open a trattoria.
