HOT SPOTS WORTH THE TRIP

ONE NIGHT ONLY: Sucre x London Chamber Orchestra

sucre restaurant one night only london chamber orchestra

On a narrow stretch of Great Marlborough Street, behind an unassuming façade, a 310-year-old concert hall is about to remember who it used to be.

For one night only, Sucre – the fire-led Latin American restaurant known for smoke, heat, and theatrical plates, will dim the lights, strike the candles, and let chamber music reclaim the room. On 29th January, the London Chamber Orchestra will perform live, transforming dinner into part concert, part feast, part time travel.

It’s an elegant reversal. Before it was a restaurant, before it was anything else, this space belonged to the Royal College of Music. Now, in partnership with the Orchestra – an ensemble over a century old and known for placing classical music in unexpected environments, Sucre is reopening a door to its own past. The night is built around intimacy: limited tickets, a seated three-course menu by chef Jack Godik, and a performance designed to unfold in close proximity, rather than at a polite distance.

Godik’s cooking is already cinematic. Trained in Argentina and Uruguay, he works with fire as both tool and metaphor, amplifying seasonal ingredients and weaving together Latin American traditions with European technique. His menus tell stories of migration: of adventurers crossing oceans, of cultures colliding and blending. Even the wine list traces that arc, following vines and vintners from Old World to New.

Layer live chamber music over that and the room becomes a narrative engine. The orchestra’s repertoire will be shaped by Sucre’s Latin influences and the venue’s atmospheric bones. Guests arrive at 6pm, champagne in hand. At 7pm, the music begins. From there, dining and performance interlace – strings rising between courses, flames flickering against centuries-old walls.
