From the owners of Gloria in Shoreditch, comes Carlotta, Gloria’s sexy little sister. It’s a restaurant where you can imagine Frank Sinatra would have been a regular. If you love pasta, cocktails, glamour and feeling thoroughly spoilt, then this is your place. From the moment you arrive it oozes glitz and fabulousness, but unstuffy and homely at the same time. Try to bag one of the comfortable leather booths at the back of the restaurant, where you can really soak up the atmosphere.
All the food served is fresh and made in-house – service is charming, cheery and very Italian. Settle in with Carlotta’s Negroni, infused with thyme or the Coco Loco makes for the best virgin Piña colada we’ve ever tasted.
For antipasti we loved the creamy burrata di Puglia, served with toppings of garlicky croutons, basil pesto and a spicy bomb rossa. Together with the Bresaola della Valtellina con grissini, crunchy Italian breadsticks smothered in creamy labneh and wrapped in mouthwatering beef bresaola. If you’re a fan of truffles, which we are, go for the silky fettuccine alfredo al tartufo, for two people – tossed and plated lovingly at the table.
Always end with Carlotta’s wedding cake – layers of fluffy almond sponge and bergamot curd, topped with a light vanilla cream, lemon coulis and crunchy meringue – divine and more than enough for two.
