Nestled in Stratford’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, you’ll find Duvale’s in Riverside East, where Chef Jamie Duvale serves up a mouthwatering Sunday roast with crispy potatoes, bottomless Yorkshire puddings, and all the trimmings.

Inside, the vibe is a cool mix of industrial and cozy – think exposed brick, soft orange booths, and copper lighting. There’s good music playing softly, creating the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to settle in for the afternoon.

We started with a couple of glasses of red Rioja, which hit the spot on a chilly autumn day and paired perfectly with the roast beef we ordered. The Sunday menu is straightforward – beef, chicken, or a celeriac option for vegetarians.

We were glad we’d saved our appetites – the roast sirloin was cooked just right, tender and pink, practically falling apart as you cut into it. The potatoes, roasted in beef fat, were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside – everything you want from a roast potato. The massive Yorkshire puddings stole the show though, golden and crisp, soaking up all the rich, red wine gravy. On the side, we had creamy cauliflower cheese with kale (so good!) and a mix of seasonal veggies – roasted carrots, tangy red cabbage and broccoli.

We capped off the meal with a fun twist on bread and butter pudding – made from leftover croissants, no less. It was warm, sweet, and comforting, perfect with a barista-made cappuccino.

We headed off happy, through the park to walk off the feast, feeling fully satisfied and already planning our next visit to try the chicken roast. If you’re into cozy vibes, great food, and a fresh take on tradition, Duvale’s is the perfect Sunday spot. Grab your scarf, order a drink, and settle in – it’s the kind of place that makes autumn feel even better.
