When someone mentions not just the greatest chicken wings in East London, but the original and best chicken wings in the whole of the UK, we sit up and listen. Randy’s wing bar started out as a pop up street food idea inspired by travels to the US and recipes from China, Korea and Vietnam, as well as the traditional Buffalo and North American style wings. Brainchild of Richard and Andy, AKA, Randy’s has been a huge success, so BEAST popped down to Hackney Wick to see what all the fuss was about.
Its industrial interior coupled with casual dining makes for a relaxed experience and we got into the swing of things. Starting with the Casablanca Wings; Harissa infused, slow cooked & grilled with sumac onions, honey, pomegranate seeds and a mint dressing as well as the Gong Bao wings; crispy fried with a pickled pineapple, coriander and Sichuan pepper sauce. And of course, a side of loaded fries with bacon salt. Accompanied by a jumbo roll of kitchen towel, it was clear this would be no easy feat, but a challenge we very much accepted. The wings truly lived up to their expectations and were so delicious you can expect to have remnants all over your face and hands. We would highly recommend a visit, just maybe not on a first date!
