food + drink Tower Hill

Savage Garden, Tower Hill, EC3

An Instagrammer’s dream and a cocktail connoisseurs delight, Savage Garden is one of London’s latest decadent rooftop destinations, set high above the city with jaw-dropping views, dramatic cocktails and truly savage menus provide a standout venue like no other.

Savage-looking cocktails, developed by Gorgeous Group, are delivered by Head of Mixology André Cavalheiro and mixed, muddled, shaken & stirred to perfection. Creative concoctions include the sinister Evil Eye, a twisted take on a Negroni using tequila, vermouth, Luxardo Bitter Bianco and Jägermeister, finished off with a green ‘eye ball’. For those with a taste for the wicked, the Devil’s Advocate is a devilish, fiery twist on an El Diablo with tequila, grapefruit juice, crème de cassis, lemon and sugar, finished with a drop of ‘Savage Hot Stuff’ and two chilli ‘horns’. The Punk Rock Fashioned – arguably the Vivienne Westwood of cocktails – is a whiskey-based mix laced with hints of cherry, chocolate and mint, and served in black glass encrusted with glowing rose sugar – God Save the Queen!

For fizz with a bit of extra flair, the Savage Spritz is mixed with Plymouth Sloe Gin, Chartreuse, red vineyard peach & hops bitters and finished with a splash of Ayala Champagne. Those in need of a pick me up should look no further than the Lespresso, a confusingly clear coffee cocktail that packs a punch but still saves on calories.

Bar food, but not as you know it. The menu at Savage Garden features unexpected flavour combinations and theatre serves to deliver dishes that look as good as they taste. From pink buns through to squid sticks mounted on pineapples and the barbarous pork tomahawks, it offers a unique and exciting take on bar food that assaults the senses.

Positively Palaeolithic platters take the hunter/gatherer approach of our ancient ancestors with a sharing carnivorous board featuring coconut beef short ribs, beef sliders and roasted poussin accompanied by fries with black mayo and savageslaw. Herbivores and pescatarians can also take the feasting route with boards laden with the likes of charred radishes with firecracker dressing, plantain chips with avocado hummus and tempura oysters.

Make sure to leave room for dessert!
