The Bloomsbury Club played host to an extraordinary evening of live music that felt like stumbling upon a well-kept secret. A trio of Robert Mitchell (keyboard), Zayn Mohammed (guitar), and Laure Lowe (drums) – a powerhouse of musical talent.

What followed was two glorious sets of melodic, mindful, and soul-stirring jazz. The musicians wove seamlessly between exploratory improvisations and confident interpretations, throwing in modern classics like a stunning homage to the great Pat Metheny. The atmosphere was intimate and electric, with an audience clearly there for the love of jazz.

The setting didn’t disappoint either. The Bloomsbury Club staff were both efficient and warm, gliding discreetly around the room to take orders while ensuring the music remained the star of the show. The cocktails were a standout — our dry martini with a twist was perfectly chilled and had just the right amount of bite. Another of our picks, the Hu – a clear and citrusy conccotion of Botanist gin, camomile, Strega, Suze and limoncello, was equally refined.

The bar snacks, however, didn’t quite hit the same high notes. That said, the fried chicken bites, anchovy bruschetta, and undeniably addictive fries managed to keep us going.

All in all, it was an evening of superb sound, smooth drinks, and a soulful vibe. If you’re a jazz lover looking for an atmospheric night out, the Bloomsbury Club is a must.
