Set just beyond Shoreditch High Street, will transport you to the warmth of Mediterranean Italy during a dreary London lunchtime
The cheerfully rustic yet stylish décor is just the beginning of this endlessly charming establishment. Before the delicious food I would suggest sampling their freshly blended fruit smoothies. Opt for the orange, apple and passion fruit juice and follow this we had deep-fried calamari and king prawns, both tasting freshly plucked from the sea. Next, orecchiette alle cime di rapa, a delicious pasta smothered in Italian broccoli, pecorino cheese, chilli and sausage – a dish to warm your soul on a chilly afternoon. Or go for a vegetarian sourdough pizza, which is delicious and filling without being too heavy. Surrounding diners are largely Italian, which vouches for Amici Miei’s authenticity. Just the sight of the spaghetti with meatballs will make your mouth water. To finish this delectable feast try the naughty-but-oh-so-nice deep-fried sourdough bites that are suitably covered in Nutella sauce. Drink the scrummy passion fruit martinis, an equally guilty pleasure.
