What better excuse to celebrate this nationally recognised day than to indulge in the scRUMcious world of rum and celebrate the onset of the weekend with some of East London’s most loved bars, booze and one-time-only activities. Make your way to the Madison x Mount Gay Pop-Up Bar

As if we needed any more reasons to make our way to Madison, now the stunning St Paul’s rooftop bar is placing the character of the Caribbean into the heart of the City of London. Barbadian rum brand Mount Gay have collaborated with Madison to tempt Londoners into the ‘Time Well Spent’ bar: take your time to pick from the refreshing ‘Caribbean Aperitivo’, the smokey ‘Roasted Pina Colada’, the ‘Strawberry Mojito’ and the ‘Barrel Aged Rum Old Fashioned’.

Unleash your inner pirate on the Golden Hinde

Whilst it might not be as East as your typical Beast hotspot, this National Rum Day head south of the river to the Eastern home of the Golden Hinde for an evening of rum tasking aboard one of London’s most iconic ships. Lead by RumCask, guests will be able to try over 15 exciting rums guided by the expertise of the RumCask ambassadors whilst discovering the hidden nooks and crannies of the first English ship to have ever circumnavigated the world.

Keep it classy at with a summer cocktail at Coupette

Voted as one of the world’s best bars, Coupette is inspired by France and fuelled with the local spirit of Bethnal Green, so where better to indulge in a rum-based tipple? Taking centre stage is “Obsidian” a delicately balanced beverage formed on the oaky, aromatic base of Bacardi 8yr rum blended with Amer Picon bitters, tart passion fruit, and rich cocoa.

Celebrate local legends and National Rum Day at the Ace Hotel

On the eve of National Rum Day, head down to East London’s infamous hotspot, Ace Hotel London for an evening filled with legends, liquor and rum-believable beverages. Local Legends:Rum Month is the chance for the Ace Hotel Lobby Bar to collaborate with some friends from London’s drink industry. From 7pm, the selected local legends will serve up a one-time-only evening of cocktails curated from a special Bacardi menu. Expect to ‘um and ah’ over the ‘Clover Colada’ (Bacardi Carta Blanca, pineapple, coconut, raspberry, lemon), ‘King Louis’ (Bacardi Cuatro, Velvet Falernum, banana, apple, lime) and the ‘Rum Reverie’ (Bacardi Ocho, Harvey’s Bristol Cream Sherry, apricot, lemon, orange).

Get your hands on some free rum punch at Rotate, Shoreditch

To celebrate National Rum Day, Shoreditch’s ultimate day-to-night venue, Rotate, will be teaming up with CUT Rum to bring you the coolest party of the weekend (make sure to make be in good time to snatch your free rum punch on entry). Throughout the evening, CUT Rum will be providing a range of cocktails which are truly a cut above the rest which range from £7 – £9: Stone Cutter (CUT Smoked rum, ginger ale, grenadine float, lime) and the Ginger Mojito (CUT spice rum, ginger beer, mint and lime).

Drink rum from an Octopus at The Gibson, Old Street

Not literally. That said, The Gibson in Old St will be serving up their Barrigada Heights cocktail in statement octopus glasses, ready for all to enjoy this National Rum Day. At the heart of this cocktail is Copalli Rum, an organic, single-estate rum that’s honourably sourced, distilled and bottled in the heart of the Belizean rainforest that can now be sampled in Old St. Accompanying the Copalli Rum is a delicately balanced concoction of pineapple rock candy, bois bande bark infused skipper rum, goat ricotta and coconut leche, air fried SV Amaretto with bananas, fresh guava and fresh lime.
