After the success of its pop up in Dalston last year, Sin Gusano, London’s only dedicated mezcaleria, is now residing in Haggerston until the end of 2018. The bar’s sole focus is Mezcal, the smoky and increasingly popular cousin of tequila. The bar offers an extensive menu to sample from, or you can enjoy mezcal as part of a cocktail.
For those who can’t get enough of it, the Sin Gusano project offers The Meszcal Appreciation Society: guided tastings at small, ticketed group events on the second Wednesday of every month. The evenings provide opportunity to sample rare distillates that can’t be bought behind the bar, while learning about the meszcal’s production, history and cultural significance, and why it is so much more than just a drink.
In addition, Sin Gusano hosts weekly cultural and creative events. Expect supper clubs, Spanish language learning, freestyle drawing, quiz nights, Mexican lottery, DJ nights and gigs. Taking the humble cactus as a model, Hello My Little Cactus! freeform drawing workshops are designed to help disengage from distractions for the evening. No previous drawing experience necessary!
London Mezcal Week runs this year from 10th-16th September for which Sin Gusano is an official partner and will be holding special events across the week, including a tasting with Global Mezcal Ambassador Phil Bayly on 12th September.
