Will anything ever match up to your grandma’s cooking? Angelina Restaurant, coming to Dalston in February, might just come close. Creating a surreal exploration of Japanese and Italian cuisines, cultures and influences, their food offers the sort of cultural mash-up you’d get if a Nonna and Baba (Italian and Japanese grandmothers) were to get together in a kitchen and share their signature recipes. While the cuisines may seem totally disparate, they share core values of regional, seasonal food created with minimal meddling and utmost respect. Each day, Angelina will serve up an eight-plate sharing menu with dishes like unagi risotto with burnt soy butter and dashi and black sesame and milk chocolate pannacotta. Buon appetite!
