Here at BEAST, we’re all about getting up close with East London life. Lucky for us, Hoxton Mini Press has published a new playful series, East London Up Close by Mimi Mollica, which captures the joyful cacophony of East London’s ever-changing community in a collection of close-up photographs.

Each image thrusts readers straight into the spontaneous and giddy heart of our East End and provides intense and colourful snapshots of the people, fabrics, architecture, wildlife and everyday objects which create this pocket of London.

Despite sometimes being a little too close for comfort, Mollica’s photographs exude a warmth and love for his community. These images capture the spirit of the inspiring, frustrating, wild, living streets which make the East End what it is, and embody a yearning for the absence of closeness we currently crave.
