Nowadays, the nearest things we’ll encounter to impressive beasts in London are mice scuttling on tube platforms, the odd urban fox and parks full of parakeets. But it hasn’t always been like this – once the city was inhabited by exotic beasts imported from all over the world. In April 2019, The Museum of London will be uncovering these creatures through an immersive digital world delivered in partnership with Guildhall School of Music & Drama. From mighty lions to pesky fleas and humble pigeons, visitors will be guided through time by animal narrators telling the story of London from their own perspective. Inspired by objects in the museum’s collection, Beasts of London will use video projection mapping to construct an immersive world as experienced by the city’s historic beasts.
