No More Blank Walls at The Arches

If you’ve caught a glimpse of the David Attenborough mural adorning a tropical fish shop in Bethnal Green or set eyes upon the Sylvia Pankhurst montage on the Lord Morpeth pub in Bow, now’s the time to pay attention and keep your eyes peeled for more…

On Saturday 31 August, international street art collective Blank Walls will be launching in the UK with an all-day takeover at Bethnal Green’s newly opened day-to-night venue, The Arches. From 1pm – 11pm, immerse yourself in live screen printing, art battles,  beatboxing, spoken word performances and pop-up street art exhibitions from a host of both renowned and freshly discovered artists including Rise Up Poetry and Poet Curious.

The launch will be sponsored by Great Art and officially partnered with the Single Homeless Project (SHP) who work to help homeless, vulnerable and socially excluded individuals transform their lives through art. Some of the work produced by members of the SHP will be displayed at the event. All of the works produced throughout the takeover will be available for purchase, with a percentage of the proceeds being donated to SHP.

Oh, and the best bit – you don’t even have to wait until the 31 August to get sight of Blank Walls changing the landscape of the East End. Ahead of the takeover, they will be raising awareness about today’s most pressing environmental issues with a series of new street art murals – watch this space and keep up top date with all of the newest art additions via the Blank Walls instagram @blankwallscollective
