Sunday Roast & Jazz at The Gun, Spitalfields

Jazz Up Your Sunday Roast

The Gun first opened its doors in 1929 and is named after Henry VIII’s artillery factory which was in the vicinity.  With live jazz performances from Mark Kavuma & friends every Sunday and a roast with the most, BEAST went along to check out iconic Spitalfields pub, The Gun.

Sipping on a mimosa as a final hoorah to the weekend, it was difficult to choose between herb roasted chicken, 12-hour slow roast rib of beef or a Slow roast lamb shoulder with all the trimmings. For those looking for less meaty options there’s also a baked hake fillet and a vegan roots and shoots roast on the menu.

We went for the herb roasted chicken with all the trimmings including a side of the ultimate cheesy, crispy cauliflower cheese. No roast is complete without a Yorkshire pudding and The Gun serves up Yorkshires the size of your head! All polished off with a sticky date pudding and carrot cake ice-cream (a must try) and to the sweet sound of Jazz music. We left feeling satisfied at a weekend well and truly finished on a high note. Open 7 days a week for eating and drinking, ‘The Gun’ creates a cosy space with the most delicious food – you just won’t want to leave.

The Gun has also launched a new Saturday Brunch menu featuring Vodka and beetroot cured salmon; Spiced chorizo and potato skillet; and a Full English from £7.50.
