This December, East London will see the return of Spitalfields Music Festival, with a hugely diverse line-up catering to early music aficionados and contemporary music lovers alike. From 1st-9th December, unique venues across Tower Hamlets will play host to a variety of performances. Acts will include The Odyssean Ensemble playing Byrd’s motets at the Tower of London and a mash up of music by Purcell and The Smiths – separated by over 300 years but unified by angst and teenage longing. This immersive music festival examines how an innate sense of melancholy connects early music masters like Tallis and Byrd with northern post-punk bands like Joy Division. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience extraordinary music in some of East London’s most iconic locations.
When? 1st-9th December
