Best Beer Gardens East London

The Camel

If humble, tucked away and charismatic are what tick your beer garden boxes, then look no further than The Camel – “Bethnal Green’s Finest Gourmet Pie and Mash Pub”. As a restored Victorian boozer brought back to life by the will of local residents, this community hub is steeped in history, atmosphere and… gravy. Tucked away behind the buildings brown tile exterior lies an alcove opening up into a modest beer garden; a petite courtyard filled with hanging baskets, fairy lights and bespoke furniture. As a locals pub with no air of exclusivity, The Camel and its beer garden are perfect for all individuals, families and friends in need of morning coffees, afternoon pies and afterwork IPA’s.

Pub on the Park

For those who think size matters, head to Pub on the Park (yes, it is quite literally a pub on the edge of a park) with its spectacular decked, heated and ‘fairy lighted’ beer garden overlooking London Fields. Situated in the heart of Hackney, this East London hub has become a renowned destination for Sunday roasts, pre-gig bevs and sports-day matches. With resident DJ’s welcoming you into the weekend and a pint of bloody mary waiting for you on a Sunday, this beer garden is the perfect way to kickstart or unwind whilst watching the Eastern world go by.

The People’s Park Tavern

For EXTRA, trot through Victoria Park to The People’s Park Tavern – home to the mother of all beer gardens. As London’s only pub to house a crazy golf course, an industrial sized BBQ, and “Bingo Bonanza” bottomless brunches all under one roof, this haunt is an accolade to the East End. With a hacienda garden big enough to host most of the East End population, this urban retreat is ideal for large groups, post park pints and slightly tipsy rounds of golf.

The Crown and Shuttle

Located on the periphery of the East stands The Crown and Shuttle – the catfish of all East London pubs. The building’s flat, vintage exterior offers no clues about the whopping beer garden which it houses. Having been awarded in 2018 by the Time Out Love Awards as the “Best Place to Drink in the Sun in Shoreditch & Hoxton”, it’s safe to say, initial appearances mean nothing when it comes to this East London retreat. Ideally located at the centre of Shoreditch High Street, make sure to visit this monumental beer garden if you’re in search of live music, a whopping craft ale selection and an easily accesible escape from the city.

The Half Moon

If you’re after cheap and cheerful, then make a beeline for The Half Moon located on Mile End road, just along from Stepney Green station. As a former methodist chapel turned Theatre with a 400 person capacity, this Wetherspoons beer garden has retained the shell of its original architectural structures – spooky huh? But with plenty of seating and the prospect of a £6 steak and £4 doubles never too far away, this East London pub has become a favourite for local students who are trying to kidd themselves out of London prices.
